Citronella oil is not only of benefit in its use as an insecticide, but its antiseptic properties make it a great boon when wishing to clear a sickroom. It also has an excellent effect on clearing the mind. It may be used for combating excessive perspiration and for balancing oily skin, as well as fighting intestinal parasites and bringing down fever.
Digestive complaints, excessive perspiration, fatigue, feline repellent, fleas, headache, insect repellent, migraine, oily skin, sickroom freshener.Citronella is a scent every one knows, but might not love. It’s so strong an insect repellent, citronella actually has a wide variety of other uses. Look closely, and you’ll find it as an ingredient in many perfumes, soaps, skin lotions, and deodorants. Citronella is a versatile essential oil, and is a must for anyone who lives in a hot, humid environment.
Essential Oil Applications:
For dogs with fleas, add a couple of drops to a “doggie bandana” or to an absorbent collar, such as woven nylon, and place around dog’s neck. Do not use this method for cats, as felines are much more sensitive to this scent.
For digestive complaints, mix 2 drops with 2-3 tablespoons of a carrier oil and massage on abdominal area.
For headaches and migraines, use 2-3 drops in a cold or hot compress.
As an insect repellent, use a few drops in a burner, vaporizer, or diffuser. Works especially well if used by an open window. Be careful if used indoors, as it can adversely affect caged birds. Citronella has long been considered the natural and safe alternative to DEET (N-diethyl-meta-toluamide), a controversial ingredient in most insect repellents. Citronella can be used alone or with other essential oils, such as Beeyoutiful’s Eucalyptus Oil, to form a wonderful combination insect repellent. The plant itself does not produce enough pungency to repel bugs from your yard, but the oil can be diffused in small patio areas or used mixed with a carrier oil or water and lightly wiped on furniture, doorways, or other items to help repel the pests! You can simply rub the oil, diluted with a carrier oil, on your skin with a paper towel or cotton-ball. For easy-to-use convenience, you may want to make up a larger recipe. You will need a fine mist spray bottle and either distilled water or a high proof alcohol (Vodka is appropriate for this, not rubbing alcohol. Vodka is usually preferred to other alcohols due to the fact that it is clear, high proof, and relatively cheap to purchase.) If using simply the Citronella, add 3 ounces of either distilled water or alcohol to the spray bottle. Then add 30-60 drops of Citronella. Please test for sensitivity. You may want to begin with 30 drops and test for effectiveness, then add if needed. Shake before using. Note: You must shake well before using or you could be applying straight oil, which could result in burns.
You should also add small amounts (5-10 drops) to your lotion, sunscreen or shampoo for guaranteed coverage! This is especially good for ticks, which like to hide in your hair!
As a moth repellent, place a few drops on a cotton ball, and place in closet or linen closet. Refresh periodically.
For oily skin, mix 2-3 drops with a carrier oil, and dab on face with a cotton ball.To keep neighborhood cats from digging up your garden, mix 10-12 drops of oil in a plastic spray bottle full of water, and spray around your garden. Do not spray directly on plants.
As a deodorant, mix 2-3 drops with a carrier oil and apply to arm pits.
For those who are bedridden, Citronella is a great freshener for the “sickroom.” Place a couple of drops in a diffuser or lamp ring. Will also help to clear the mind at the same time.

Our products do not contain parabens, mineral oil, paraffin, petrolatum, phenol carbolic acid, propylene glycol, acrylamide, toluene, dioxane, sulfates, triclosan, triclocarban, EDTA, TEA, DEA, sodium laureth and sodium lauryl sulfates (SLS/SLES).
Whenever possible, we use local ingredients and help local farmers get more value for their crops. We make each and every product from scratch, and we know what goes into each one of them, not like others who buy cheap lotion base or shampoo base, add some herb-sounding fragrance to it – or worse, and call it organic – while others simply re-label existing products.
Our products take time to prepare. This is because we ourselves extract most of our herbs using water solvents and some of the oils using steam distillation or hydro distillation. We take our pledge to provide natural products to our customers seriously.
The journey goes on, we have established relations with small farmers, bee growers and other manufacturers of natural and organic products. We hope that someday, the Philippines will be recognized as one major producer of world-class skin care products with Philippine ingredients in the limelight.
